ePMX Bar Code Interface Module

ePMX's Bar Code Interface is built into the optional Inventory module. This interface utilizes bar codes and hand-held data collection devices to count items for physical inventory or to record stock requisition issues. ePMX updates your inventory records to reflect new inventory balances.

Features of the Bar Code Interface include:

  • ePMX's Bar Code Interface allows you to print bar code labels to assist in counting your physical inventory or record stock requisition issues. These labels may also be created with another system of your choice. The Percon hardware can, by default, read common industry bar codes, such as code 39 or 128.
  • You can perform physical inventory counts using the Percon data collection terminal. After each item number is scanned and quantities are entered, the inventory count is automatically uploaded from the device into ePMX. The count information is then held for variance review. These variances are printed and ready for manual analysis. Items may be recounted or updated in ePMX's Inventory master file. Once inventory counts have been validated, ePMXmay be updated to reflect new inventory totals.

Note: While the physical inventory count is in process, all inventory operations should be suspended. Invalid inventory balances will result if on-hand quantities change while the count is being performed.

  • Stock requisitions that are ready for issue can be selected for pick ticket printing. These pick tickets can be reprinted in various report sequences with either detail lines or total lines.

A portable scanner is used to record the items issued out of inventory for the stock requisitions on the pick ticket report. For each total line on the pick ticket, an item number is scanned, and the total quantity issued is entered.

This scanned issue count is automatically uploaded from the device into ePMX, which will generate an inventory issue transaction record for each stock requisition-line picked.

All pertinent information from the stock requisition will be applied to the inventory issue transaction and stock requisition totals will be updated with the quantity issued.
